Why Service My Transmission?
Just like changing your engine oil, replacing your transmission fluid will help you get the most life out of your transmission. The fluid in your transmission breaks down due to the high operating temperatures and pressures inside today's transmission and can become contaminated with the normal byproducts of friction and wear of the may moving parts inside your transmission. Degenerated fluid cannot properly lubricate or protect or protect your precision-machined transmission parts. Some of the material that wears off of these parts becomes suspended in the fluid, creating an abrasive mixture that causes further wear through out your transmission. Many automatic transmissions also have an internal fluid filter that can become restricted with these contaminants and affect the operation of the transmission this also needs to be changed when the fluid is replaced.
Note: Some transmissions have a screen that does not normally doesn't need to be changed and some don't have a pan that can be removed.
A Service is More Than Just Replacing the Fluid
Changing the transmission fluid is an important part of helping you get the most life from your automobile. When you have your transmission serviced, a basic safety check should also be done. Most facilities don't even road test your car or perform any checks before changing the fluids.
Basic Checks We Perform
- Road test the vehicle before the service to check for normal operation and experience any customer concerns. Note: symptoms & concerns should be diagnosed before servicing.
- Scan test if there are shifting concerns or check engine light is on.
- Make minor adjustments included if needed.
- Check the fluid level and condition. If it is low, there may be a leak to locate.
- Perform a visual inspection.
- When the transmission pan is off, check for any indication of a problem
- After the service, road test the car again and recheck the fluid to make sure it is at the correct level.
